Saint Lucia Records 102 New Cases of COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE — Late Saturday May 14, 2022 the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs received confirmation of a total of 102 new cases of COVID-19. These samples were processed on Friday May 13, 2022 from a total of 313 samples of which 286 samples were from the Ezra Long Laboratory and 27 samples from the Laboratory Services and Consultations Limited. These samples were collected on May 12, 2022 and May 13, 2022. This number of positive cases makes up 32.6% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 24, 267.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 70 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. The number of active cases in country to date is 616. Currently, there are eight positive cases of COVID-19 admitted at the Respiratory Hospital, of which one is severely ill.

To date, a total of 53, 701 individuals have been fully vaccinated. Another 5, 325 are partially vaccinated and 7, 326 have received their booster shot.

Vaccination will resume tomorrow Monday May 16, 2022 at various Wellness Centres as per the published COVID-19 vaccination schedule. Vaccination will be available from 9am to 4pm.

  1. It is outrageous and frightful for a small Island. Why are some people, including a Minister of Government pushing for Carnival, knowing full well the lack of discipline of the majority of people of that age group, with the sound of loud and lewd music blasting all around, half naked youth showing how theirs is better. The Gros Islet Friday nights ain’t better, I don’t see how that can enhance the economy, while people are getting infected at such a rate. Who dare have the courage to demand that the Prime Minister put an end to all this?
