The sashing ceremony for the eight successful contestants who will be taking part in the National Carnival Queen Pageant will take place tomorrow evening.
The Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC) in collaboration with the National Carnival Queen Pageant Committee are the ones behind the ceremony
The Sashing Ceremony is one of the most anticipated events for Carnival Queen enthusiasts, as the announcement is made as to which sponsors are assigned to which contestants.
Prospective queens become brand ambassadors for the assigned sponsor and for the remaining weeks leading up to the pageant, they get an opportunity to interact with their sponsors in various ways.
Chairperson of the National Carnival Queen Committee, Mr. Trevor King, said “For us, the Sashing Ceremony is a momentous occasion. Both our sponsors and contestants are excited to learn whom they will be paired with. Our contestants will not only represent themselves, but their sponsors, and there’s also a lot of honour for them in knowing they have the support of that Company behind them every step of the way.”
The eight contestants vying for the title of National Carnival Queen 2022 are Christa St. Ange from Monchy, Kejean Smith from Entrepot, Castries, Kurnisha Augustus of Grande Riviere, Dennery, Merel Popo from Ti-Rocher, Micoud, Nadege Mc. Lauren from Ciceron, Castries, Nyambi Jn. Baptiste from Ciceron, Castries, Shaniah Richard from Cedars, Castries, and Xenia Douglas from La Toc Road, Castries.
The Sashing Ceremony can be viewed live this Thursday on Choice TV or on Facebook at Carnival Saint Lucia from 8 pm. The National Carnival Queen Pageant is set to take place on Thursday July 7th, 2022 at Royalton Saint Lucia.
