Three Matches In SLFA Premiere and Division 2 This Weekend

MATCHES continue this weekend at three venues in the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. / Scotts Sports and Awards Premier and Division Two under the theme ‘Lets Kick Covid Out.’

Today (Saturday 14th) Division 2 – at the SLFA Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Dennery from 2.00 p.m. Lancers plays Diamond Ballers and 1987 All Stars plays Togetherness Youth at 4.00 p.m.

At the Anse la Raye playing field, from 3.00 p.m. RV Juniors takes on the National Under 20 team while Bays FC will be up against Victory Eagles FC at 5.00 p.m.

Tomorrow (Sunday 15th) one match is on the card in the Premiere League. League favourite, Platinum FC with 21 points under their belts, takes on the second place team, Monchy United FC with 16 points. That match begins at 5.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday 11th, at the Phillip Marcellin Ground (PMG) in a tense and exciting encounter GMC and Uptown Rebels played to an exhilarating 3 – 3 draw.

GMC got their goals from Sherman Augustin in the 38th and 44th minutes, the second goal being a penalty with Jason Similien of Uptown Rebels scoring in the 1st minute of added on time.

Brendon Auguste with an own goal in the 9th min. Requelme Elva 20th and Saviola Elva 60th scored for Uptown Rebels.

In the other game played, Northern United made light work of Knights FC 4 – 1, courtesy of a Sherwin Simon hat trick in the 30th, 73rd, and 86th min. and the other by Erickson Magloire in the 71st min.

An own goal by Kerim Didier in the 76th minute was some sort of consolation for Knights FC.

On Tuesday 10th at the PMG yet another Keegan Caul hat trick edged the National Under 20 closer to securing the Division 2 Championship as they defeated Togetherness Youth 5 – 1.

After Daneo Caroo opened the scoring in the 6th minute, Caul continued the onslaught in the 12th, 36th and in the 1st minute of added on time in the first half. The other was scored by Steven Octave in the 61st minute.

This was Keegan Caul third hat trick of the tournament taking his tally of goals to 16.

Shervius Oculli scored for Togetherness Youth in the 29th minute via the penalty spot.

In the other match played, Victory Eagles defeated New Generations 4 – 0, with goals from Darrel Francis 10th, Kern Joseph 16th, Shawn Alfred 21st and Shervin George a penalty in the 50th minute.

At the Canaries playing field, T Valley with two goals from Ed Fred in the 16th and 86th minutes drew 2 – 2 with 1987 All Stars who got their goals from Devaughn Charles in the 14th and Javon Ferguson 27th minutes.

In a very exciting encounter Bays FC, after enjoying a 1 – 0 lead against B1 FC with a strike by Ric St. John in the 31st minute lost the encounter 3 – 1.

Andrus Remy equalized in the 37th minute as the half ended 1 – 1. However, Bays FC wilted under the pressure towards the dying moments of the game as Alton Joseph scored in the 4th minute of added on time, with Remy sealing the initiative with his second in the 5th minute of added on timed.

On Saturday 7th, National Under 20 striker, Keegan Caul scored his second hat-trick resulting in the National U 20 team defeating Lancer FC 4 – 0 at the SLFA Technical Centre (SLFA TC) in Grande Riviere, Dennery. He got his goals in the 15th, 59th, and 2nd minute of added on time, while Steven Octave got the other in the 69th minute.

In the other game played at the SLFA TC, 1987 All Stars and Bays FC played to a goalless draw.

At the Anse La Raye playing field B1 FC edged out New Generation 1 – 0, with Akim Francis scoring the winner in the 86th minute.

Meanwhile, none of the games scheduled for Sunday 8th August in the Premier League took place.
