PUNJAB Kings on Friday 27th August announced the addition of Johnnel Eugene to the squad as a net bowler for the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
He will have the opportunity to be part of the PBKS net sessions and will be evaluated by the team coaches.
The young emerging player was bestowed with the title of St. Lucia’s Junior Cricketer in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and aspires to be a professional cricket player. He recently participated in the Windward Island Volcanoes intra-squad games in 2020.
Saint Lucia’s Minister of Youth Development and Sport Kenson Casimir notes “I personally have been following Johnnel throughout the years. I have always been impressed with him. His talent and love for others are admirable. He is perfect for this.”
The Minister further expressed “At the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports we will continue to support and encourage these initiatives as we believe that these meaningful engagements can contribute to the human development of Saint Lucia. Additionally having Johnnel participate in this venture, demonstrates hope for other young persons.”
Johnnel shared his excitement noting “With this opportunity I believe I can showcase my talent, represent my family and my country by pursuing my career at an international level.”
