SAINT Lucia’s new Cabinet of Ministers was sworn in amid cheers by members of the public, including supporters, who turned out in large numbers to witness the event which was shown to them on large television monitors mounted outside parliament building in Castries Thursday.
While inside parliament was reserved for special invitees, outside, adorned with tents and chairs for members of the public and supporters, was a carnival of sorts dominated by supporters wearing the red colour of the governing administration.
Cheers echoed through Constitution Park whenever an elected parliamentarian made his/her presence enroute to the chamber where the swearing in would take place. Amid the cheers were the sweet sounds of steel pan music from a band placed just outside the parliament building.
Several dignitaries were present at the ceremony including Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda.
