The Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. met with the secondary schools identified to participate in the ‘Adopt a School’ pilot project on Thursday 12th September 2019 at the SLFA headquarters in La Clery.
As part of the schools’ obligations under the project, they will agree to provide the following: (1) A male Under 14 team consisting of 16 – 20 players; (2) A female Under 14 team consisting of 16 – 20 players; (3) A minimum of twelve persons to serve in any of the following capacities: Referees, Assistant Referees, Match Commissioners, First Aid Responders, Coaches and Football Managers.
Under the partnership, the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. agrees to provide the following to any school which meets the above obligations: (1) A CONCACAF licensed Football Coach or an appropriate one at the Association’s expense; (2) Complete playing kit for each of the teams which will be replaced every three years once the school agrees to continue in the programme; (3) Complete officiating kits for match officials; (4) Training equipment – bibs, balls, cones, markers and coolers.
While the coach will be an employee of the SLFA, the individual selected will operate under the guidelines of the school.
Football training must be conducted for both boys and girls, twice a week with ninety minutes duration, and the time slot for these, must be facilitated in collaboration with the principals of participating schools.
It is expected that each school will identify someone to work alongside the SLFA’s appointed Coach.
The SLFA shall assist with the provision of transportation if necessary.
The schools identified to fit into the program include Beanfield Secondary School, Clendon Mason Memorial, Grande Riviere Secondary, Jon Odlum Memorial, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary, Patricia D. James Secondary, St Joseph’s Convent and Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School.
