THE President of the Vendors Association, Peter ‘RasIpa’ Isaac, has hinted at legal action against Castries Mayor, Peterson Francis.
Isaac and Francis have in the past traded various accusations against each other, with the Mayor recently vowing that he would bypass the Vendors Association President and deal directly with the vendors.
Isaac told reporters Monday that the Mayor accused him of taking money from vendors.
He declared that the accusation was made recently by Francis during a recent television talk show.
“I know for sure this thing never happened. All the persons who put that form in have a receipt from the Castries Constituency Council, so this accusation is not something that is going to stop right here. I am definitely going to go further with this. This is definitely false and you cannot spoil people’s name like this, especially in public on national television” Isaac said.
He promised that ‘serious action’ would be taken, depending on what his attorney advises.
According to the Vendors Association President, his attorney saw the programme during which the Mayor is alleged to have made the offending remarks.
“It’s defamation – definitely,” Isaac told reporters
How long has Ras Ipa been “president” of the Vendors Association? I think forever!! Surely his membership must call for Annual General Meetings, where they ELECT their board of directors, president, etc. But it seems to me, he has been president for umpteen years!! I have never seen advertisements for AGMs, other general meetings, etc., for the Vendor’s Association.
