PRIME Minister, Allen Chastanet, praised Castries Mayor, Peterson Francis, at a meeting of members of the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA).
Chastanet did so Friday while acknowledging the presence of various officials in the audience at the 54th Annual General Meeting of the SLHTA, held at the Harbor Club in Rodney Bay, Gros Islet.
“He does not sit in the cabinet but he gets a lot of work done,” the Prime Minister declared to applause from the gathering.
The Prime Minister’s comments came against the backdrop of a review of the operations of the Castries Constituency Council (CCC), announced by Local Government Minister, Fortuna Belrose, in a letter to the Mayor.
The review began on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, and is expected to be completed within six weeks.
The Mayor’s brother, National Security Minister Hermangild Francis, last week dismissed as ‘mere speculation’ that there are moves afoot to sack his sibling.
