MATCHES were played in the Desruisseaux Football League Knockout Tournament over the weekend. On Saturday, TiRocher FC took on Small Axe, which resulted in a goalless draw. Following the penalty shootout, TFC prevailed 4 – 2.
On Sunday, in the first semifinal, defending champions El Ninos took on Lion Heart. Lion Heart stunned the defending champions with an early goal as Wesstilus Stanislaus put his team ahead in the 3rd minute of play. No further goals were scored as the half ended 1-0.
On the resumption, and in true champion’s style, El Ninos stormed back with three unanswered goals half to emerge victorious. Delon Neptune scored a brace in the 65th and 75th minutes, while Gerlannie Neptune added the other in the 70th minute.
The second semifinal will be played today with Green Monsters coming up against TFC.
The third place match will kick off from 2:00 p.m., while the grand final is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. The matches will be played on Sunday at the Desruisseaux playing field.
