WALCOTT House emerged champions of the Carmen Renee Memorial Primary School Sports meet held at the Mindoo Phillip Park on Wednesday, dethroning Gill’s House, last year’s champions, by 10 points.
Walcott House ended on 307 points, followed by Gill with 297, Rene with 274 and Lewis with 248.
The young aspiring athletes competed at the primary level in a number of events ranging from 60 metres to 600 metres and relay races.
Here are some of the results:
• 80-metres Boys Under-13: 1st place Sergio Mc Kenzie (Walcott) 11:08 seconds, 2nd place Jamari Emilien (Walcott) 11:12 seconds.
• 80-metres Girls Under-13: 1st place Jae Clery (Lewis) 12:31 seconds, 2nd place Brianna Auguste (Gill) 12:56 seconds.
• 150metres Boys Under-11: 1st place Zane Sonson (Lewis) 23:23:94 seconds, 2nd place Noah Ermay (Walcott) 24:34 seconds.
• 150-metres Girls Under-11: 1st place ChrisnaAlfay (Gill) 26:26 seconds, 2nd place Saralyan Mc Keag (Walcott) 26:78 seconds.
• 600-metres Girls Under-13: 1st DezmaJn Baptiste (Rene) 2 minutes 14:15 seconds
• 600-meters Girls 11 and under: 1st place Ariel Pusey (Walcott) 2 minutes 13: 69 seconds.
Physical Education teacher at Carmen Rene Memorial, Dyke Francis, said of the meet:.
“It was good sports event despite the challenges of the inclement weather”. “All the athletes were well prepared as we incorporated training during our physical education sessions, lunch time break and after school. Our athletes did very well and I am proud of everyone.”
The athletes will be given a week off from training and resume their preparation and selection for District II sports meets scheduled for next month and Inter-Primary meet in April.
