THE curtains will come down on this year’s Inter-Schools’ Female Football Championship on Thursday at the SAB Playing Field.
St. Joseph’s Convent and Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary will meet for the 3rd place play off from 1:00 p.m.; while the much anticipated finals between Vieux-Fort Comprehensive Secondary and defending Champions, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary take place at 2:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, a century from National Under-19 reserve player Jard Goodman and a near century from National Under-19 wicket keeper Denzel James propelled Sir Arthur Lewis Community College to a comfortable 86 run victory over Babonneau Secondary as the Massy United Insurance Under-19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued on Friday at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
Sir Arthur batting first in a 45 over a side match made a respectful 331 for 5 in their quota of overs with opening batsman Goodman batting through the innings for a brilliant 121 not out. Goodman’s innings comprised 14 fours a one six. James fell just 6 runs short of a century; he was dismissed for an attacking 94 which included 12 fours and 4 sixes. Tyler Sookwa too was in the action stroking an even 50 with 4 fours and 2 sixes.
For Babonneau Secondary the main wicket takers were KendyArneau with 2 for 43 in 7 overs, and Leon Benjamin 2 for 59 in 9 overs.
In reply Babonneau Secondary was dismissed for 245 in 40.2 overs with national under 15 hopeful, 14 year old Keleb Thomas falling short of a well desired century by just 4 runs. Thomas made an attractive 96 which included 13 fours and 2 sixes. Other useful scores came from Rene Montoute with 47, and Leon Benjamin 24.
For Sir Arthur Lewis Community College the chief wicket takers were Tyler Sookwa with 3 for 31 in 7 overs, KevelliFroncois 2 for 28 in 2.2 overs, Keeghan Patrick 2 for 32 in 9 overs, and Stuart Calderon 2 for 45 in 9 overs.
