DIGICEL continues to promote, support and contribute to the social and economic development of St. Lucia through its continuous support for a host of Jazz Events Island-wide.
Having recognized the opportunity to contribute to community development and also further develop capacity within the communities, Digicel has strategically partnered with a number of community-based organizations in their presentation and offering of their very own unique extraordinary jazz experience.
Digicel Jazz Calendar commenced last Saturday at the National Cultural Centre in partnership with Sisterhood in the hosting of the annual ‘Jazz Sampler’. The event was held under the theme “The Master and the Apprentice”.
Digicel’s support for one of St. Lucia’s most rapidly developing community Jazz products, the Soufriere Creole Jazz, continues as proud platinum sponsors. Soufriere Creole Jazz line up boasts of two of the world’s most sensational performers, Maxi Priest from Jamaica and Wyclef Jean along with many other stellar acts.
The event has also further blossomed into a two-day celebration with a street festival element being introduced on Saturday April 30 which will feature local artisans and a wide variety of artistic display.
The Soufriere Mini Stadium will then come alive on Sunday May 1 as patrons party under The Pitons to pulsating Caribbean rhythms.
Digicel also continues its support for the uniquely distinctive MonchyMizik en Kweyol a jazz event which has grown in popularity and indigenous cultural celebration year by year held by members of the community themselves.
A free event scheduled for May 3 promises extraordinary performances from Secret band, DYP, the St Lucia Royal Police band and many more. The Vieux Fort Community, Marigot Community and Choiseul Community are also major beneficiaries of Digicel’s Jazz investment. The Marigot Development Committee is all set to host Marigot Jazz scheduled for April 30. Jazz En Choiseul, new to the Jazz calendar promises much entertainment with a fusion of local artistes and different genres of music on May 14 at the Piaye Waterfront.
The community of Vieux Fort will once again be host to the 2016 Jazz Finale with the annual Vieux Fort MouvemanAnsanm on May 15 Patrons are invited to come enjoy the rich tasting local cuisine, music and southern hospitality.
Digicel is also proud to support a myriad of Jazz VIP Parties including Rapture 6 Celebrity VIP Party, Different Shades- Show Me Your Colours VIP Party, Atmosphere VIP Party and Salsa Latin Jazz Party. Other Jazz activities supported by Digicel include Rainforest Hideaway Jazz, JQ Jazzy Mall Rhythms, Tea Time Jazz and Jazz on the Docks in the Rodney Bay Marina.
