THE group Friends of Music of Barre du Chaussee’ will celebrate their 10th anniversary on the feast of musicians, St. Cecilia’s tomorrow.
The feast of musicians is celebrated every year on November 22. This is a tradition handed down over the years where the musicians came out around the city of Castries early in the morning, and played music for the residents who showed appreciation by serving them refreshments as they went from house to house.
Friends of Music celebrate every year in the community of Barre du Chauseé where a number of bands from the surrounding areas perform publicly. This year the celebration will take place at the Barre du Chausseè Multipurpose Court in La Croix Maingot starting at 3:00 p.m.
The programme tomorrow will feature eight bands: Survival Steel Orchestra, Locally Natural, N.S. Band, Afrikan Roots, Teti& His Sax, WouléTété, Rising Stars, The La Croix Maingot Combined School Choir and special surprise guest performers.
For the last ten years, Friends of Music have been very proud to produce this event which has been hailed a day not only to celebrate the musicians, but the people of the community of Barre du Chausseé. The community invites the Saint Lucian public to celebrate with them what promises to be day of fun for all.
