SHOTOKAN Karate-do International Federation St. Lucia recently concluded Shotokan Week, and from all it was highly successful event.
According to Sensei Ezra Jn Baptiste, the week started with a fun run-walk which saw parents taking part along with karatekas from all five affiliates of SKIF. The walk culminated at the SKIF Headquarters at Corinth, where enthusiasts engaged in several routines of physical exercise conducted by Sensei Karim Sifflet.
Black and brown belts participated in a seminar conducted by Sensei Ezra Jn. Baptiste who shared some of the knowledge and skills which he acquired at the recently concluded 1st SKIF Pan American seminar held in Venezuela. A series of subsequent seminars have been planned to update members of SKIF on the upcoming SKIF Japan activities for 2016 and 2017.
The highlight of the week was a lecture on “The Value of Karate-do in Personal and National Development” by Sensei Jn. Baptiste, Chief Instructor and Technical Director. The much anticipated Clash of the Sensei’s lived up to expectation as many of the karatekas gathered in Corinth and engaged in friendly kata competition.
There was also Road Show with one stop at the Budoshin Dojo in Reunion, Choiseul, operated by Sensei Pius Stephen. The visit included a short seminar conducted by the Chief Instructor, Sensei Victor Dudley, and Sensei Sifflet.
Meanwhile, the remaining events on the SKIF calendar are the 12th National Championship slated for Sunday November, 29 the 41st Examinations scheduled for Thursday December 3, and the Awards and Recognition Ceremony to be held on Sunday December 13.
