THE Indian Community in St Lucia is proud of its heritage and has demonstrated this on numerous occasions in recent years.
But the members of the Indian Heritage Association of St Lucia are equally proud of their St Lucian roots and demonstrated this during the recent JounenKweyol activities.
The Association, in collaboration with the Ti RocherJounenKweyol Committee and the Ti Rocher Indian Group, created a special event to mark the occasion.
. The Founder and President of the Indian Heritage Association of St Lucia, Keith A.C. Compton, said it was time to show the real JounenKweyol, “which is a true mixture of people of different races, different ethnic backgrounds,”.
He added: “ Today, creolization refers to this mixture of different people and different cultures that merge to become one. We are Caribbean people, the true melting pot of the world! JounenKweyol needs to portray that mixture; it should not always depict just the African side”.
This is beautiful, real beautiful and I like it. I never knew
of such organisation so cherish it. Help develop good roots.
