
FOR the third consecutive year, La Feuille Pentecostal Church female athlete and student at the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School, ThomykaValcent captured the Women’s Open title at the annual “Run for Jesus” road race which took place on Monday.
Valcent made light work of her opponents in the 3.9 kilometre event which started outside the Church and finished at Pigeon Island.
The 13 year old, who holds the record over the distance, placed seventh overall in another record time of 35 minutes 49. 67 seconds well ahead of women’s runner-up Terry Hunte (12th overall) who clocked 38 minutes 59.91 seconds after encountering some difficulty with heat exhaustion’ Yvonne Agard came in third.
Winning the Men’s Open and overall title was 23 year old Ossie Augustin in a time of 30 minutes, 42.74 seconds. Coming in second was Ajani Thomas in a time of 31 minutes 11.14 seconds, and third Vehoan Hunte in a time of 31 minutes 11. 26 seconds.
