PONMDamouKreations has announced that this year’s Poetry Slam will be held at The Arts Cafe, upstairs the Aquarius Crossing building at the corner of St Louis and Coral streets in, Castries.
The group said the venue was an embodiment of art and no better place could have been found to host the last edition of the event.
It said: “The location is central and easily accessible. It is welcoming and pleasant with a class of uniqueness and sophistry, all its own. It is a very homey place for artistes and an easy, relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of town’s commercial life”.
This is the seventh edition of the PonmDamou Poetry Slam and poets, especially females are being asked to register. If you are a novice performer and have never taken to the stage before, training is provided at no cost. Participants must be 18 and over to perform and need three pieces of original poetry.
The PonmDamou Poetry Slam is more than just poetry. It gives the stage as well to budding performers, such as dancers, singers, musicians, actors and videographers to display their talent.
Management said it has been tough getting sponsorship for the event and urged business persons to assist when the youth are positively engaged. PonmDamouKreations said it looks forward to a fruitful event, and thanked Calabash TV for partnering with them through the years.
The programme gets underway at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday November 5 and every Thursday thereafter at The Arts Cafe. PonmDamouKreations can be reached at 287-8484 or via email at [email protected]
