TWO excited young teams left St. Lucia earlier this week in pursuit of the 2015 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Junior.
President of the St.Lucia Volleyball Association Brian Louisy said: “The team composition was restricted last minute by the inability to get enough airline seats to Dutch St. Martin and teams of nine men and ten women made the journey. The Ladies Team is coached by Florian Combie, while the Young Men are coached by Elvin Germaine with Maria Dalson as Manager”.
Louisy continued, “Both Germain and Combie had success at this level before and will be seeking to take their teams to the NORCECA Continental Championships to be held in 2015”
He added, “The ECVA Junior Championship is held every other year and is the qualifying competition for the NORCECA Junior Continental Championship which is also held every other year to serve as a qualifier for the World Championship in that age group. St. Lucia has won the ECVA Junior Male Championship on two occasions and is the defending champions, while the Ladies have only won the championship on one occasion and are defending champions as well”.
The members of the Ladies team are: Sky Mondesir, Nikita Greenidge from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College; LovelleAuguste, Amika James, JaydaHunte and Tiah Arnold of St. Joseph’s Convent; Fian Alexander of Entrepot Secondary; Yosherbel Emmanuel of Soufriere Secondary;TessianaNorlay of Micoud Secondary, and Kishel Noel of Vide Boutielle Secondary”.
The Men’s Team comprises, Alexander Augier, Andre Marquis, Richard Antoine, John Francois and Elijah Lionel of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College; Curtney Germaine, Levi Leonce, KeionEmbrack of St. Mary’s College and Scott Louis of Gros Islet Secondary School.
