MECHAELA Hyacinth was the only representative from St. Lucia at the World Youth Games in Cali, Colombia.
A student of Leon Hess Comprehensive, the 15 year old whose event is the 100 metres ran her personal best of 11.91 seconds in the first heat yesterday and qualified for the semi finals, when she bettered her time with 11.87 seconds. This however was not enough to carry her through to the finals.
Mechaela Hyacinth did not win but she achieved two personal bests in one day; this is the biggest stage of her athletic career thus far.
