50-Over Series Continues; Women’s Team In Dominica

WEATHER permitting the St.Lucia National Cricket Association Inter Club 50 Overs Knock Out Competition continues this weekend with eight matches been played at six venues around the island.

In matches scheduled for today Millet meets Boca Juniors at the Dennery Playing Field, PYO plays Belfond at the Soufriere Mini Stadium, Grass Street are up against La Pointe 4H at the Wenn Playing Field in Mon Repos and Aux Lyon takes on Lancers at the Mindoo Phillip Park.

Matches for tomorrow are: Royals against Malgretoute at the Dennery Playing Field; Ebony versus the winner of PYO against Belfond at the Piaye Playing Field; Radix versus the winner of Grass Street against La Pointe at the Laborie Playing Field and La Feuille against Bays at the Mindoo Phillip Park.

According to the SLNCA Operations Manager Bryan Calixte, Round 2 of the tournament will continue next Saturday with the following matches. New Park against Police at the Mindoo Phillip Park; Small Axe versus Togetherness Youth at the Dennery Playing Field and Balca will play the winner of Millet versus Boca Juniors at the Piaye Playing Field.

On July 26, Unique will play either Aux Lyon / Lancers at a venue to be announced.

Meanwhile, St. Lucia National Women’s team left the island yesterday for Dominica,.to engage the Dominica national female team in a three match series. A squad of 14 players will be selected to represent the Northern Windwards at the conclusion of the three match series and will participate in the WICB Women’s Super 50 tournament scheduled for Trinidad and Tobago in August.

The St. Lucia team currently in Dominica is:-YasmineSt.Ange – Captain, Ashlene Edward – Vice Captain, Roylin Cooper, Swayline William, Nerissa Crafton, Paulina Francis, Quiana Joseph, Gemma Brigitte, Malika Edward, SolangeAubert, Nicole St. Prix, Leona Emmanuel and Allyah Alfred.

In Dominica the team will be under the watchful eyes of former national cricketer John Eugene as Head Coach, PhillipaEudovic – Trainer and Eugena Gregg – Team Manager.
