DETHRONED champions St. Lucia were second winning four gold medals and one silver medal as host country Grenada emerged champions of the 2015 OECS Boxing championships which was staged this past weekend.
The Grenadians finished on 17 after winning three gold and four silver medals.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines were third on 7 points with two silver medals and three bronze while Dominica were in the cellar position with three points from three bronze medals won.
Despite St. Lucia finishing second they won the most gold medals (four), through Bantamweight Trevon Lynch, Lightweight Heslie Joseph, Welterweight LyndelMarcellin and Middleweight Marvin Anthony. The lone silver medal was won by Arthur Langelier in the lightheavyweight division.
Welterweight LyndelMarcellin was named the championships best boxer.
Meantime, two of the boxers who were in Grenada and two of the officials will today fly out to Tijuana, Mexico for the Pan Am Boxing qualifiers. The boxers are 69kg Welterweight Marcellin and 75kg Middleweight Langelier. They will be accompanied by Coach Conrad Fredericks and team Manager Second Vice President and Public Relations Officer of the St.Lucia Boxing Association Brian Mc Donald.
