THERE were wins for Gros Islet, Soufriere and Mabouya Valley as the St. Lucia National Cricket Association Mindoo Phillip Division 1 Two Day Cricket Tournament continued over the weekend.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Gros Islet batting first made 138 all out in 30.2 overs, with Dwight Thomas playing a good counteracting knock of 86 which included 12 fours and 4 sixes. Rumario Simmons also chipped in with 20.
Bowling for Central Castries, LoicProspere had 5 for 23 in 12 overs, Joshua Mann 2 for 6 in 3.2 overs and Dillon John 2 for 51 in 7 overs.
In reply, Central Castries were dismissed for 75 in 20.5 overs conceding a lead of 63. The main scorers being Stephen Naitram with 28 and Glen Goolaman 18.
For Gros Islet, off spinner Selwyn Boyce finished with excellent figures of 6 for 9 in 4 overs, skipper Larry Edward 2 for 4 in 3.5 overs and Shelton Arneau 2 for 22 in 6 overs.
Gros Islet in their second innings were dismissed for 255 in 51.2 overs, an overall lead of 318. Gros Islet’s innings was led by a brilliant flawless century from Kurt Edward, whose 118 included 20 fours and 4 sixes. Other useful scores came from Vernillius Gabriel with 64, Selwyn Boyce 24 not out and Dwight Thomas 16.
Bowling for Central Castries, Dillon John bagged 4 for 53 in 12.2 overs, Joshua Mann 3 for 52 in 13 overs and Devon Eugene 2 for 40 in 11 overs.
Set a victory target of 319, Central Castries were bowled out for 141 in 25.1 overs with Gaspard Prospere contributing 39, Stephen Naitram 29 and Carlton Edmund 24.
For Gros Islet, the wicket takers were Dwight Thomas with 3 for 7 in 2 overs, Larry Edward 2 for 36 in 6.1 overs.
In Soufriere, Soufriere defeated Laborie by an innings and 65 runs.
Batting first, Laborie scored 116 Jamal Alphonse (36), Dornan Edward (30). Bowling for Soufriere Canice Richardson picked up 4 for 41.
Soufriere in reply made 291, Tennacy Hippolyte top scoring with 57, Denver Didier scored 46, Canis Richardson 39 not out. Bowling for Laborie Dornan Edward took 4 for 62 and Shervin George 3 for 62
Batting a second time Laborie made 110 all out with Shervin George topscoring with 29 not out while Randy Boulongne hit 26. Bowling for Soufriere Wayne Prosper had 3 for 7 and Desmond Alfred 3 for 22.
In Dennery, Mabouya Valley defeated South Castries by 3 wickets. In their first innings South Castries scored144 for 9 declare. Tonius Simon (54), Mario Lawrence (35). Bowling for Mabouya Valley Dale Smith claimed 4for 17.
