COMPLETE Marine Services Ltd (CMS) has been awarded a contract to build two new jetties in Savannes Bay and Praslin Bay by The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Production, Fisheries Cooperatives and Rural Development (MAFFCR).
The project, which is funded by the Government of St Lucia and the Republic of China (Taiwan), is being managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure. Materials are being assembled off-site and works are scheduled to commence on site at Savannes Bay on Mondaty the 27th April with the target of completing both docks within three months.
Sam Verity, Managing Director of CMS, stated “I am very pleased that CMS has the opportunity to work on a project with such significant community benefits. We recognise how important these new jetties are to both the fishing communities of Savannes and Praslin bays and to government and we are very conscious of the trust and confidence placed in us. CMS is a St Lucian company, almost entirely staffed by St Lucian nationals and we plan to use as much local labour as we can – drawn from the Savannes and Praslin communities.”
Moses Jn Baptiste, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, commented “The completion of the jetties project has been anticipated for over one year. The project which started with the construction of the two concrete abutments earlier this year will serve fishers, seamoss farmers and individuals from the area who engage in touristic activities.
Complete Marine Services Ltd was founded in 2004 and acquired by the present management in 2008. It is active in both onshore and offshore piling, marine construction and underwater maintenance.
