The Saint Lucia Pride committee will host the sixth annual Pride celebration for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community on the island under the theme “Persist with Pride”. The series of events will take place over the weekend and will end on Monday-September 2nd.

This year’s Pride celebration will feature advocacy and community-building activities.  The activities include a press launch, a pride opening night party, a health and educational fair, live panel discussion on the National Television Network (NTN), and the most anticipated Divas of Helen Drag Show featuring the legendary Saint Lucian/American superstar Monet X Change.

Monet X Change is known for competing on the tenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race (2018), on which she placed sixth and was crowned the season’s Miss Congeniality; and for winning the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars (2018–2019).

These pride events aim to promote awareness and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, challenge discrimination and prejudice, and celebrate diversity and inclusivity.

Jessica St. Rose, founder of Saint Lucia Pride, noted that “The Saint Lucian LGBTQ+ community has clamoured for this, and we are happy to provide this outlet for a celebration of our identities and our freedoms, while pushing for full recognition and respect by society.”

Saint Lucia Pride was made possible by the support of:

  • Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort and Spa
  • British High Commissioners Office Saint Lucia
  • The French Embassy
  • The European Union
  • The Canadian High Commission Office in Barbados
  • The Mexican Embassy
  • Eastern Caribbean Alliance for Diversity and Equality
  • Pride Toronto
  • Bay Gardens Hotel

Ultimately, 758Pride aims to end the stigmatization of LGBTQ people by creating a movement which appreciates and empowers them, not in spite of their diversity, but because of it.

The committee sincerely thanks the entire Diplomatic Core and all other sponsors for making all of this possible.

758Pride Saint Lucia is organized by an independent group of Saint Lucian LGBTQ activists formed in 2018. In 2019, the 758Pride committee executed Saint Lucia’s first official LGBTQ Pride celebration.
