TWO people of Westall Group (The Mangue) in Vieux Fort were on Monday robbed of money and other items at gun point by masked gunmen, causing consternation among residents.

JosephatMathurin, a fisherman, who was robbed of $60.00 and a cell phone, said he was in bed when he heard a knock at his door. When he opened it three masked gun men ordered him to lie and the floor, and began searching his home.

“While I was on the floor, the men kicked me on my head about seven times and threw a bucket of water which I had in the house on me,” he recalled.

Mathurin said while he was being kicked he pretended that he had passed out, afraid of being killed by the gun wielding men.

According to him, just before they left one of them had suggested that they burn him in the house.

Mathurin said the incident has left him with a terrible headache.

The other victim, Helena President, who owns a bar in the area was robbed on the same day sometime close to 11:00 p.m .

According to President, while playing dominoes with a few friends, two men, one holding a shot gun barged into her bar. She said one of them went behind the bar and took a bottle of drink, some tobacco and a few other items and left. According to her, during that time, the other man who was standing a few feet away from her, was pointing his gun in her face, while a third stood outside with his hands in his pocket.

“I was very afraid…I could not say anything but just watch the men,” she said.

On the same day several residents of the area reported men who they could not identify knocking on their doors, but they did not open to them.

The previous week an elderly man in the area was roughed- up and searched in the area by a few men unknown to him. The man had nothing of value with him at the time.

The Vieux Fort police are investigating both robberies.
