SIX teenagers, three males and three females are in police custody assisting police with their investigations into the discovery of a male body on the Boriel beach in Vieux-Fort.
The grisly discovery of the body of Moses Clovis, 49, of Pierrot, was made Sunday morning about 11:00 a.m.
According to Inspector Marcelinus Leonce of the Vieux-Fort Police Station, Clovis’ body was discovered with multiple wounds.
“He had injuries on his back, legs and head,” Leonce said.
Leonce said police are awaiting the results of a post mortem on the body to decide on their next course of action.
He added that police were able to identify persons for questioning as a result of a tip-off.
According to residents of the area, Clovis, who lived with family members, was recently behaving in a “very strange” manner and once attempted to cause harm to himself.
Yesterday, relatives and friends of both the victim and those held in custody swarmed the Vieux Fort Police Station to make enquires into the matter.
A relative of one of the teenagers in custody — a 12-year-old-boy — said she was surprised to hear of his alleged involvement in the incident.
The incident has left residents of Pierrot in shock and disbelief.
