Local sports authorities intend to set the pace geared towards better functioning and management of community clubs and associations on the island.
Today (Saturday), the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, through its Alternative Sports Programme is hosting a Club and Association Workshop at the Finance Administrative Centre.
According to a ministry spokesperson, participants will be given insights on Governance and fundamentals of Organisational Structure, including the roles and responsibilities of executive members and the importance of by-laws and governing documents.
One of the sessions will deal specifically with legal and regulatory matters including compliance with local governmental regulations, tax implications and exemptions for clubs and associations.
Organisers of the workshop have included sessions on recruitment and retention strategies, handling conflicts and disputes within the membership and effective decision-making processes.
Part of the afternoon session will involve participants delving into financial matters including fundraising strategies and revenue streams, while highlighting the need for transparency and accountability in financial management.
