On September 13, 2024, the Government of Saint Lucia will sign two new contracts with the Saudi Fund for Development to advance the construction works and rehabilitation of the St. Jude Hospital.
Two locally based firms were selected to undertake the final construction phase of the hospital following a competitive bidding process.
Construction Industrial Equipment Limited won the bid for the civil works, and Caribbean Consulting Engineers Limited was awarded the contract for design supervision of the SJHRP.
As stipulated in the Agreement between the Government of Saint Lucia and the Saudi Fund for Development, both contracts form part of a Joint Venture with counterpart firms out of Saudi Arabia.
According to the Government of Saint Lucia, transferring patients and hospital operations from the George Odlum Stadium to the new St. Jude Hospital remains a priority for it.
Prime Minister Philip J Pierre secured $201 million in loan financing from the Saudi Fund for Development for the St Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project, noting that with the financing in place, finishing the hospital is imminent, and its the long-awaited relocation to its original home will finally begin.
