New Board Will Review SALCC Fee Structure

SIR Arthur Lewis Community College Vice Principal Merle St. Clair Auguste has confirmed that the main priority of the Interim Board to be named next week will be to review SALCC’s fee structure.

In a letter to Faculty and Staff dated August 7, Dr.Auguste confirmed earlier reports week that the announced fee increase scheduled for the 2018/2019 academic year, had been suspended due to Government’s decision to inject a large sum into the College’s coffers.

The purpose of this letter was to “formally inform staff of the decisions taken on these two matters.”

Three decisions were outlined in the letter, including that “A primary undertaking of the Interim Board will be the review of the fee structure.”

It remains unclear whether this review is as a result of the Government’s advice to the dismissed former Board of Governors (as revealed to The VOICE in an interview on Tuesday by Senior Communications Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister Nicole McDonald), or if it means the new Board will discuss a new fee increase.
