CPL T20 2018: Will The Stars Get to Party at Home?

DESPITE losing 14 consecutive games on the trot, the picturesque Daren Sammy Cricket Ground is expected to come alive this evening as Saint Lucia Stars is set to take on defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders from 8.00 p.m.

Saint Lucians known for their party type atmosphere (rain or shine) and hospitality and despite the team not doing well are expected to come out in their numbers to ensure that the Stars come out from the heavy clouds which has denied them success.

The Stars still languishing at the bottom of the points table from last year’s tournament, have failed to win a match in this year’s tournament. In their opening match of the Tournament they have down to TKR by 100 runs. Scores in the match TKR 195 for 6, Colin Munro 68, DeneshRamdin 50 not out. Kieron Pollard 2 for 22, Kesrick William 2 for 28, Mitchell McClenaghan 2 for 30. Saint Lucia Stars 95 all out Andre Fletcher 19, Qais Ahmad 14, Kieron Pollard 12. Dwayne Bravo 3 for 11, Fawad Ahmed 3 for 16.

Guyana Amazon Warriors by 3 runs. Scores in the match, Guyana Amazon Warriors 141 for 4, Luke Ronchi 42, Qais Ahmad 3 for 15. Saint Lucia Stars 138 for 7, Lendl Simmons 45, Kieron Pollard 32. RayadEmrit 3 for 26, Imran Tahir 2 for 23.

On Tuesday evening they also lost to Jamaica Tallawahs, with Johnson Charles in its mix, by 6 wickets, scores in the match Jamaica Tallawahs 176 for 4, Glenn Phillips 58, Rovman Powell 43 not out, Johnson Charles 31. Saint Lucia Stars 175 all out, Andre Fletcher 43, Daren Sammy 36, Adam Zampa 3 for 27, Oshane Thomas 3 for 39.

Meanwhile, in the coming days local fans and visitors alike will see a mixture of late evening fixtures that will cater for all audiences as the biggest party in T20 cricket continues at the DSCG.

Tomorrow, the Stars will play Barbados Tridents from 9.00 p.m.

On Tuesday 21st they will come up against Saint Kitts and Nevis at 6.00 p.m. and on Friday 24th will play Guyana Amazon Warriors at 9.00 p.m.

The final game for the Stars at the DSCG will be against the Jamaica Tallawahs on Saturday 25th from 8.00 p.m. certainly a match you don’t want to miss as Daren Sammy and Johnson Charles go head on the square.
