THE police are reporting that on Saturday, June 9, 2018, about 8:30am, a police squad reported to the George F.L. Charles Airport at Vigie for investigation into a possible explosive at the facility following allegations made by two French Nationals.

According to a police press release, operations were suspended at the entire airport and a thorough search of the facility was conducted, but no such device was retrieved.

The two – a man and a woman — were subsequently detained in police custody.

Philippe Gaston Grandejean was arrested and charged for the offence of “Bombs, hoaxes, sending messages or articles to alarm or injure other persons” contrary to Section 362 of the Criminal Code of St. Lucia.

He was granted bail and reappeared before the First District Court yesterday.

His female companion was released from custody pending further investigations.
