Win For Gerson Strikers In Gros Islet Domestic 50 Over Cricket Tournament

THE 2018 Gros Islet Domestic 50-Over Cricket Tournament sponsored by District Representative Lenard Montoute continued on Tuesday 1st May at the Gros Islet playing field, with a clash between Gerson Strikers and Polius Knight Riders.

In the day/night encounter, standing captain for Polius Knight Riders Qwaine Henry won the toss, invited Gerson Strikers to take first knock and dismissed them for 213 in 41.4 overs.

National player Dornan Edward led the scoring with a responsible knock of 51 that included 2 fours and 5 sixes, alongside West Indies Under-16 player Lee Solomon 37, Windward Islands Under-17 player and team captain Simeon Gerson 32, Kerick Victor 17 and Nyheem Rosemond 15.

Bowling for Polius Knight Riders, Rahym Joseph with 4 for 59 in 11 overs, Jaden Elibox 3 for 34 in 10 overs, Rumerio Simmons 2 for 28 in 6 overs and 1 wicket each to Dudley Charles, Mc Kenny Clarke and Ackeem Joseph were the wicket takers.

In reply, Polius Knight Riders after being 46 for 5 reached 163 for the same 5, thanks to Rumerio Simmons 66 with 11 fours and 1 six and Zidane Arthur 38 who shared a fighting 6 wicket partnership of 117 before plunging to defeat, as they were bowled out for 172 in 36.4 overs.

Serrigo Auguste with 14 was the only other batsman to make any impact with the bat for the Knight Riders.

Bowling for Gerson Strikers, Dornan Edward with 3 for 33 in 6.4 overs, National Under-19 seamer Sanjay Hayle 2 for 16 in 6 overs, Kyle Adonis 2 for 20 in 7 overs and Lee Solomon 2 for 42 in 7 overs were the wicket takers.
