4th Dennery Waterfall Run scheduled for Labour Day

THE Dennery Youth and Sports Council will stage the 4th edition of the Dennery Waterfall Run on Labour Day, Tuesday, May 1st 2018 — and invites all patrons to come join the RUN and have some fun.

This year’s edition of the DWR comprises the National Lotteries Authority-Dennery Credit Cooperative 10K Race, Inter-Club Road Relay and 13-and-Under Short Course Races.

Fitness enthusiasts and non-competitive runners and walkers are encouraged to be part of the Environmental Fun Walk that involves tree-planting along the river bank and a Fun Walk to the Dennery Waterfall under the influence of pulsating music.

All activities culminate with the Dennery Waterfall Run cool-off and after-party inside the Dennery Waterfall.

President of the Council, Ramel Polius, believes that the DWR is a local brand that will transcend local boundaries and quickly become a household name throughout the region.

He confidently said, “This brand is growing!”

Polius added, “We are elated to have our prominent national runners: Chantal Glasgow, Michael Biscette, Winsbert Sylvester, Neville Dupre and our past winners Zephrinus Joseph, Jason Sayers and Victor Ledgers all being part of our event and ready to take on the challenge from regional runners in the likes of Curtis Cox from Trinidad and Tobago and Junior Ashton of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.”

Polius also underscored the importance of sponsorship in the development of the DWR.

He explained, “This year, we are thankful for our two title sponsors in the Dennery Community Credit Cooperative Society Limited and the Saint Lucia National Lotteries Authority and our numerous other sponsors.

“We hope that these growing partnerships can help expand our product and put the Dennery Waterfall Run in the category of Run Barbados and the other regional events.”

The DWR caters to all from the ages of 5 to 75 and welcomes all others beyond and in between.

These events promise to be energizing and rewarding.
