ST JUDE Hospital notes the misleading statements made about the hospital by Raise Your Voice St Lucia Inc. in a Press Release issued on March 19, 2018.

Contrary to the organization’s false claims, St Jude Hospital currently has a full-time Consultant Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN) on staff. A second Obstetrician/Gynecologist has been hired to replace one who resigned in December. That Physician is due to take up employment soon. An OB/GYN from the community has been providing coverage whenever the current OB/GYN requires time off.

At no time, was St Jude Hospital without an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.

The claim that “women already in the advanced stages of labour are referred to Victoria Hospital without proper arrangement for their safe transfer which has resulted in infant mortality and major health complications for both mother and child,” is unfounded. Patients in advanced stages of labour are not transferred because of the inherent risk of doing so.

St Jude Hospital follows Standard Operating Procedure in the transfer of patients to Victoria Hospital. All patients are transferred via ambulance provided either by Hospital or the St Lucia Fire Service. During the transfer, patients are always accompanied by either a nurse, a doctor, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or a combination of three, depending on the severity of the case.

Cases are always discussed with the Consultant at Victoria Hospital prior to the transfer of any patient.

St Jude Hospital observes standard operating procedures in the delivery of healthcare and continues to provide optimum care to the public despite operating in less than ideal conditions.

  1. Why are those people lieing so much. Every patient who was in active imminent labor or not at risk was delivered at St. Judes. However for possible high risk patients or those less them 5cm was sent to victoria Hospital after they called to say there wasn’t any obstetrician, or they would call every shift to remind vh them that there wasnt any obstetrician on call and if any emergency beyond that the patient will be sent to VH. So they need to say the truth. Now patients have to talk not only when they blast VH medical care. Stop lieing to the public. …bS
