Independence 3×3 Basketball Champions Crowned

DESPITE a less than stellar attendance and thanks to the perfect weather conditions, the 2018 Independence 3×3 Basketball tournament concluded last weekend at the Vigie Multipurpose Sports Complex.

Nine teams battled it out in both men and women’s categories for the right to be called the 2018 3×3 champions.

In the women’s pool, Lady Jets (KayarnaLouison, Janice Hector, Melissa Demille, Carlyn Williams) captured the championship with a hard fought 8 – 7 win over The A-team with youth basketball standouts (Mia George, JermiahEvariste, Kameka President, Siana Jameson).

In the Men’s pool, Savage Storm (Keegan Preville, Andre Louison, Marlon Samuel and ShamoirJn Baptiste) embarked on an undefeated 7 game run, while averaging 18.8 points per game to emerge victorious in the final, defeating Migos 19-11.

Team Savage Storms’ success was no fluke, as all the players on this team are currently enrolled in the National team preparations ahead of the Americup 2021 qualifiers to be held in Suriname this June.

Migos (PakelGumbs Anthony Pologne, Simeon Hippolyte, Yohan Fevrier) defeated 767/758 connection (Dante Peter, Ali Shillingford, Dunstan Peters, Ryan Philogene) 19-11 in the first semifinal matchup.

Champions Savage Storm steam-rolled Bandit Ballers (Nicholas Toussaint, Cheic Alphonse, Keon Embreck, and Khalil Weeks) with a 19-1 thrashing in their semi-final.

The Saint Lucia Basketball Federation (SLBF) expresses deepest gratitude to all those who assisted in making the Independence 3×3 Tournament a success: Blue Waters, 767 Sports, BILD volunteers, Officials and Referees, All participating teams and Fans and supporters.
