Camille Henry Memorial Inter-House Sports Meet Tomorrow

WEATHER permitting, the battle for Inter-House athletics supremacy will begin tomorrow at Mindoo Phillip Park as close to 240 students from Camille Henry Memorial School will showcase their sporting talents.

This year’s sports meet will get underway from 9:30 a.m. with the traditional march past, prayer, national anthem, athletes oath, and a few welcome remarks from school principal, Beverly Dieudonne, who will also declare the meet open.

The four houses will contest for the CHMS championship trophy up until 3:00 p.m. when the overall winner will be announced.

Last year’s champions, Zenaida, will be going all out to regain their title, but close on their heels will be double champions, Flamingo (2015-2016). Likewise, Humming Bird and Eagle will leave no stone unturned as they are expected to challenge Zenaida and Flamingo this time around for the top spot.

Three age categories will be on show: Under-9, 11 and 13 boys and girls. The young and promising athletes will compete in the 80-metres, 150-metres, 300-metres, 600-metres, 1000-metres and 1200-metres races.

Justin Theodore, Jaylan Hippolyte, Donte Green, Tristan St. Louis, Shequan Jean, Sergio Sydney, Jaiden Emmanuel, Milan Mitchell, Evann John, Sayvion Rosemond, Eden St. Croix (boys); and Kayla Jean, Mahailey Smith, Aniah Gabriel, Nya Gustave, Aungel Augustin, Nisha Lovence, April Destang, Ericka Gaspard, Lynell Williams, and Kia Larcher (girls) are just some of the athletes expected to blaze the MPP track.

Meanwhile, it remains uncertain as to which schools within the Castries basin will stage their Inter-House sports meet in the coming days as no information has been forthcoming from the Department of Youth and Sports and the respective education district office.

However, District 6 will commence their Inter-House sports meet on Tuesday, February 6 with Blanchard Combined School; Wednesday, February 7, Augier Combined; Thursday, February 8, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School A; Friday, February 9, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School B Road Race; Tuesday, February 13, Grace Combined; Wednesday, February 14, Vieux Fort Infant and Primary Sports Meet; Thursday, February 15, Vieux Fort Comprehensive B Sports Meet; Friday, February 16, Plain View Sports Meet; Tuesday, February 20, Desruisseaux Combined Sports Meet; Wednesday, February 21, Pierrot/Vigier; Friday, February 23, Belle Vue Sports Meet; Thursday, March 8, Special Ed Sports Meet; Wednesday, March 14, District 6 Sports Meet.
