LIGHTNING Aquatics Swim Club is preparing to stage its first meet for the year on Sunday, March 19 at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre (RHAC).

Dubbed ‘LA Relay Carnival’ the event will be unlike any other as the emphasis will be not on individual events but will call on swimmers to strategize and bond with their teammates to undertake the various relay events.

Some of the fun events include a T-shirt relay as well as a kickboard relay where swimmers will use their dexterity to stack up to four kickboards as they battle their competitors through to the finish line.

Said LA President, Tessa Charles-Louis: “We are thrilled to be staging LA Relay Carnival and we take this opportunity to invite all clubs as well as swimming enthusiasts and athletes from other sporting disciplines to enter the competition for the fun of it. We have included relays for parents and coaches as well. LA Carnival Relay will be fun-filled yet challenging preparing the island’s competitive swimmers for the RHAC Invitational Swim Meet in April which will welcome several clubs from the region.”

As the event draws closer, persons who like and share the official competition flyer on the club’s Facebook page ‘Lightning Aquatics Swim Club’ will be eligible to win special prizes. That’s not all– there will be an opportunity to participate in a raffle which will be drawn at the end of the competition..

Additionally, the Club President commended the eleven LA swimmers who attended the 2016 Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association (SLASA) awards on March 5 at the Bay Gardens Hotel.
