No One In Custody For Ciceron Woman’s Murder

“We have no one in custody as yet.” This is according to Officers attached to the Press Relations Department of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force in relation to the murder of a Ciceron resident on Sunday.

Police confirmed that there is a person of interest, and are steadfastly pursuing said lead, believed to be an individual with whom the victim shared a relationship.

The victim, 31 year old Sophiana Edward, who was celebrating her birthday on the same day, was stabbed on the right side of her upper chest, as well as both cheeks. The injury inflicted to her cheeks is believed to be an entry exit wound inflicted from a single thrust.

Although there have been several reports of Edward’s throat being slashed, police were unable to confirm this detail; however, it was revealed that a postmortem will be performed on the body on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. and according to eyewitness accounts, the violent outburst was sparked by a text message sent to the victim, wishing her happy birthday.

Edward’s death has been listed as the island’s 17th homicide for the year so far.
