Jorge Pardo Jazz Band In Concert at NCC Tonight

Jorge Pardo

OCTOBER 2016 heralded thirty years of diplomatic relations between Spain and Saint Lucia—a significant milestone of unity of culture, arts, heritage and ways of life, despite language differences.

To further honour and celebrate this anniversary, the Embassy of Spain in Saint Lucia will host a music concert at the National Cultural Centre tonight featuring the riveting Jorge Pardo Jazz Band. Indeed what better way to celebrate unity than through the universal language of life, music.

The Jorge Pardo Jazz Band concert will undoubtedly prove an evening of soulful rhythm and sensational sound. Lauded for his musical experiences and passion, wind instrumentalist Jorge Pardo’s music, while rooted in Flamenco—a native Spanish art form—incorporates and experiments with a range of music genres; from Jazz to South American Folklore and classical music. His music personifies cultural unity, in the same way as the formidable union between Spain and Saint Lucia.

Known for his fluid and relaxed approach to flute and tenor and soprano saxophones, Pardo was recently awarded by the AcademieFrancaise du Jazz for his latest album, the highly acclaimed “Huellas” and for his unique passionate expression of music and language over the past 30 years. A music alchemist, Pardo and his band have performed in theatres and festivals the world over inciting in their audience pure musical elation. Jorge Pardo Jazz Band resonates with all who love music and dance.

To help make the event a reality, the Embassy of Spain was able to rely on the gracious support of the following partners: Ministry of Culture & local Government, JE Bergasse& Company Limited, The Cultural Development Foundation, SLHTA and Northwest Ltd.

The event will be held at the National Cultural Centre, at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free. Online registration for the event is available at the following link: https://goo.gl/FRGA9e
