A Good Samaritan who was recently featured in The VOICE has stayed true to her word and has embarked on her journey to help underprivileged children across the island, one child at a time.

Fredreika Joseph-Leon, began her donation tour on yesterday morning after delivering 36 of the 175 packages consisting of brand new school bags filled with text books, exercise books and stationery to the principal of the Marchand Combined School.

These bags will then be handed over to the children deemed most in need of assistance, ranging from Grade K to Grade 6,

Joseph-Leon was accompanied by Accountant for the Baywalk Shopping Mall, Peterson Francis who represented the major sponsor responsible for Friday’s donation, Maher Cheriki.

Francis said; “We like to partner with any organisation which tries to better the kids and like [Joseph-Leon] rightfully said, you don’t want anybody being ostracized or cast aside because they couldn’t afford or slowed down their development, because the kids are our future.”

Principal Shirley Ann Lubin expressed her gratitude: “This donation will go a long way, because the 36 children that we chose are children who usually don’t have all what they need to begin an academic year. So this year, they will begin fully prepared with their supplies and hopefully their minds will be that prepared as well to be successful because education is really the key.”

Other major sponsors who Joseph-Leon said she was beyond grateful to include Michael Chastanet, Peter Devaux, and Samuel Rosenberg of Axcel Finance.
