THE Ministry of Tourism, Information and Broadcasting along with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB) and the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA) are visiting properties across the island.

The initiative was spearheaded by Saint Lucia’s Tourism Minister, Dominic Fedee, who said that for too long tourism partners lacked the synergy needed for the industry to flourish.

“This is all part of a strategy to improve relationships, strengthen engagements and strengthen dialogue, and it’s all good because we are seeing opportunities to discuss farming linkages, security, crime, and a number of opportunities in product development. So we are really looking forward to what the future holds,” Minister Fedee said.

The visits, he added, allow tourism partners to iron out their differences while working towards solutions for challenges facing the industry.

St. James’ Club Morgan Bay General Manager Mark Grebby, said it is refreshing to see the Ministry of Tourism, the SLTB and the SLHTA working together to achieve collective goals.

He said: “We’ve always had good relations and we very much look forward to getting everybody together and driving tourism forward. Having everyone working together is key, and that should make the island more successful.”

The Minister said these consultations facilitate an exchange of ideas that are salient to the effecting of communal goals.

He said: “If you intend to go in a direction that is different from what obtains, then you ought to meet the people who are key to executing that vision; and really those meetings were to see how we can best take the industry forward. It is important that we are all working together towards improvement.”
