Karen Beaubrun Swim Meet This Weekend

WELL over 140 swimmers in Saint Lucia representing six clubs will compete at this the second Annual Karen Beaubrun Developmental Swim meet hosted by the Sea Jays Swim Club; this weekend at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre.

The two day event will start from 12:00 noon today and 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.

This year Karen Beaubrun Meet has been sanctioned by the St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association, and provides an opportunity for swimmers to make their best times for selection on the national team to represent Saint Lucia at the upcoming Goodwill Games scheduled to be held here August 19 – 21.

Held in honour of their beloved coach Karen Beaubrun who passed away in 2011, the Sea Jays club promotes the meet emphasizing “Coach Aunty Karen” philosophy of hard work, dedication and character development.

Sea Jays already has the distinction of being the club which has hosted the most local swim meets over the past 15 years including the now OECS Time Trials held in October each year.
