Mabouya Valley K.O Contest Underway

FOOTBALL action continues today in the 2015 Mabouya Valley Knock-Out Football Tournament at the Grand Riviere Playing with one match on the card, from 4.00 p.m. Survivals Sports Club will take on R.Y.O at the Grand Riviere Playing Field.

On Sunday Aux-Lyons United Sports Club defeated Chesters Sports Club 2 – 0 in the opening match of the tournament played at the Grand Riviere Playing Field in front of a supportive crowd of football fans.

No.7 striker Julius Louisy put Aux Lyon United in the lead in the 10th minute when he received a free ball on the flank beat to strike home the opening goal of the tournament and that’s how the score line remain up until the half time whistle despite Chesters determination, but in so doing squandered three easy scoring opportunities.

On the resumption following the break saw both teams up the tempo a few notches, but it would be Aux Lyon that would double the score line through their captain No.3 Fabian Joseph strike in the 53rd minute to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, President of the Mabouya Valley Football League Kendel Emmanuel has been speaking with THE VOICE about the knockout tournament and plans to host the final of the Shawn Edward competition at the La Ressource Playing Field when that facility is soon commissioned.

Emmanuel said: “This tournament will be followed by the premier tournament sponsored by the parliamentary Representative for Dennery North Shawn Edward scheduled to commence on November 3. This knockout tournament is sponsored by the St.Lucia National Lottery Authorities with eight participating teams. The grand final is slated for Sunday November 1and the winner will take home $1,500.00”.

Matches will continue throughout the entire week weather permitting and hopefully on Saturday November 28 football fans will see the final four teams in the semi round.

Emmanuel said word from the contractor was that the La Ressource facility will be handed over by November 21 and by then the second round of the Shawn Edward tournament will be move from Grand Riviere Playing Field to that new facility.

“But rest assured the finals will definitely be held at La Ressource”, he said.
