Two Boxing Victories at Creole Contest

ST. LUCIA registered two impressive victories on Thursday evening in Martinique on the opening night of the Creole Boxing championships.

The wins came in the 81 kg light heavyweight novice division and in the Open Elite 75 kg middleweight division, through Leroy James and Arthur Langelier respectively.

James, making a return to the national boxing team after a few years absence had a unanimous points win over RodolpheVilleronce of Martinique.

In the final bout of the night Langelier, a three time defending Creole Games middleweight champion, stopped his opponent Sebastian Dixit of Guadeloupe in the first round after some vicious body blows and uppercuts had the Frenchman’s corner to throw in the towel.

Meanwhile, several of the other St. Lucian boxers were in the ring last evening as the championships entered its second night Friday. Upon going to press there was no word on the outcome of their fights.
St.Lucia were Creole Games boxing champions in 2013 and finished second in 2014 after losing out to French Guyana by one point.
