The Dame Pearlette Legacy Committee, which is chaired by world renowned Pain Specialist Dr. Winston Parris and co-chaired by hotelier Mrs. Joyce Destang believes that lasting tribute should be paid to Dame Pearlette, who has served as Head of State for almost 18 years with extraordinary distinction, exemplary scholarship, outstanding dedication and a high calibre of integrity.

According to the Group, Dame Pearlette’s accomplishments in the field of governance, culture, education – at multiple levels, social service, and in the fabric of nation-building are outstanding.

“Her numerous achievements will be chronicled elsewhere but suffice it to note at this time that Saint Lucia has been extremely fortunate to have someone with the wisdom, the character, the scholarship and academic excellence and most of all, her unquestioned integrity to serve as Governor-General at this delicate period of our nascent history,” the group said in a release.

A Laborie sub-committee has been formed which will have a valuable advisory role in the planning of events and projects specific to that Community, which is Dame Pearlette’s birthplace. Other sub-committees include Finance, Organizational, and Projects.
