SURVIVORS Track and Field Club emerged as the 2015 St.Lucia Athletic Association Club Relay Champions on Saturday at the George Odlum Stadium.

Survivors went on to pile up a whooping 1045 points, 100 points clear of second place finisher Choiseul and 135 points ahead of defending champions and third place finisher Pace Setters.

The event that was held under humid conditions saw participants in both sexes battling it out in friendly rivalry from start to finish in a series of exciting relay events.

The day truly belonged to Survivors, as most of the participating teams were caught wanting. Survivors had depth on the bench to fill in a team in all the events and to ensure that the club remained up front on the points table.

Founder and head coach of the club Cuthbert Modeste left no stone unturned when he too participated in two events giving the young athletes a glimpse of a yesteryear 800m and 1500m runner. For the many who came out to support the event it was a joy to see and hear the support for Modeste as they shouted “Go Cuthbert Go”.

Saturday’s performance was more than enough for Survivors to be ranked as one of the top track and field clubs in St. Lucia for 2015. On May 24 the club topped the medals table at the 22nd edition of the 1st National Bank Games held at the Mindoo Phillip Park and will now look towards the SLAA National Individual Track and Field Champions scheduled for June 27 and 28 at the George Odlum Stadium.
