The latest are an industry designation and a Green property recognition added to a year that has seen the Sourfriere property recognized for its excellence.

Fond Doux has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor for the fourth consecutive year. This prestigious accolade from one of the world’s largest travel sites places the resort in the top performing 10 percent of all businesses worldwide on Tripadvisor, and is only given to those who consistently earn high ratings from Tripadvisor travelers.

A delighted Eroline Lamontagne, Executive Director of the award-winning resort, was especially pleased with the TripAdvisor honour. “We thank the staff who have made it possible by their hard work, dedication, loyalty, and sacrifice. We especially thank all of the extended Fond Doux family and friends from around the globe who continue to keep us grounded with transformational advice and feedback.”

Booking .com also granted the resort an award of Excellence for Guest Review Awards 2014. This award was received in recognition of Fond Doux’s dedication and care, in meeting and exceeding guests’ expectations, and its ability to consistently deliver amazing stays.

It has also received a 3-star Diamond Rating from AAA. Each year, AAA reviews more than 28,000 hotels including resorts, historic inns, B&Bs and just 0.4 per cent make the AAA Five Diamond List.

“Only properties that meet AAA’s standards for cleanliness, comfort, and hospitality get to be AAA approved and we are very proud of that”, said Lamontagne.

The resort has also received a Gold Level Status from the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Programme. This Programme showcases eco-friendly hotels and B&Bs, who are all committed to green practices such as recycling, and sourcing and serving local and organic food. The statuses range from bronze to platinum, and Fond Doux is the only hotel in Soufriere to receive a gold level status.

“The first quarter of 2015 has definitely been exciting,” says Lyton Lamontagne,, Managing Director and co-owner of the Fond Doux Plantation. “We have succeeded in moving our offices to the main plantation house and providing a more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for our guests, and have developed a number of training exercises in customer service and eco-green practices for our staff.

“As a Green Globe certified property, Fond Doux is committed to eco-friendly, self-sufficient, sustainable tourism and ensures that this concept is embedded in all of our practices.”

Fond Doux was built from a deeply rooted passion of its St. Lucian owners Lyton and Eroline Lamontagne, to transform a 250 year old working plantation into a property that would not only preserve the integrity of the natural environment, but to also make it a vacation destination for those who appreciate the wonders of nature.

They have announced that they have a number of other projects in the planning stages, as their aim is to constantly improve on the experience that they provide to their guests.

Up next for Fond Doux, a photo contest for the best restaurant photo and general property photo. The two winners will receive a complimentary three night and five night all-inclusive stay for two and the winners will be announced in October, 2015.
