8 Off To CARIFTA Games In St. Kitts

THE St. Lucia Athletics Association has selected an eight member team and three officials to the 44th edition of the CARIFTA Games in St. Kitts and Nevis starting tomorrow.

Team St.Lucia left the island on Tuesday for Martinique; and are expected to leave Martinique today for St.Kitts following two days of training on that island.

In Basseterre the team will be under the watchful eyes of IAAF Certified track and field Coach Denise Herman and Cuban Coach attached to the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Liaxna Montalvo Martinez and SLAA Treasure Cornelius Breen as Manager.

At last year’s CARIFTA Games in Martinique, St.Lucia’s finished tenth on the medal table with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Jamaica topped the table with 89, 42 gold, 34 silver and 13 bronze.

St.Lucia team includes three debutants: Amber Lucien I the Girls Under – 18 Discuss, Ibed Sealy Boys 200m Under – 18 and Danny Francois who will compete in the Javelin and Discuss. The remainder of the team is – Denzel St. Marthe – Under 20 Boys Javelin, Ace Louis – High Jump, Uric Mathurin – Boys Open Octathlon; KamillahMonroque – Girls Open 3000 metres and Rochelle Etienne – Girls Under -18 Javelin.
