Coconut Bay Top Chef For B’dos Chocolate ‘Fest’

chefCOCONUT Bay Beach Resort & Spa Executive Chef VeejooruthPurmessur (popularly known as Chef P) will serve as a headline resource during the inaugural Barbados Chocolate Festival and Conference scheduled for this weekend.

This comes just six months after the celebrated Chef joined a shortlist of four other acclaimed Caribbean Chefs in the prestigious RESERVED nyc culinary expose in New York, USA.

Organizers of the first Barbados Chocolate Festival and Conference requested the expertise of Coconut Bay’s Executive Chef as the headline Chocolatier and resource person during the festival and secured his participation under a special agreement protocol with the hotel.

Chef P will lead a panel of four professional instructors providing lectures and demonstrations. Lectures are scheduled for two days leading up to the main festival date. His key lecture during the festival will be on the topic: “The origin of Chocolate, from bean to bar”. Additionally, Chef P will lead lectures on the process of chocolate making. He will also apply his expertise to conduct demonstrations for the benefit of patrons attending the festival.

Chef P’s is donating his participation in the inaugural Festival in the spirit of charity to assist the Asthma Association of Barbados. Patrons to the Barbados Chocolate Festival and Conference will have the benefit of two full days of workshops and culinary demonstrations along with the opportunity to indulge in chocolate tastings from outstanding Chocolatiers.

Joining Chef P on his Barbados visit is Coconut Bay Junior Pastry Chef and Saint Lucia’s Official Cake Boss, Chef Ronald Estephane, who will be proudly providing support to Chef P during the lectures and demonstrations.
