Celebrating Independence

THOUSANDs of Saint Lucians came out last weekend to partake in a number of activities planned for this year’s 36th Independence celebrations.

The long weekend, which ended on Monday, was filled with several events, including the Miss Independence Pageant, military parade, national celebratory rally, SLAM Concert, Independence Classic and the Piton Independence Concert.

Organizers billed this year’s celebrations as “having something for everyone” and preliminary reviews suggest that this was generally the case.

The VOICE captured some scenes from last Sunday’s military parade at Vigie Playing Field as well as the national celebratory rally at Phillip Marcellin Ground.
